CLOSING EVENT 'Imagining Monuments'
on the eve of International Women’s Day

Through a series of public discussions and artistic suggestions, we will – as city residents, activists, academics, opinion-makers and artists – put our heads together to think about how we approach the various aspects of female representation in monuments in the public space.

As part of the closing event, on the eve of International Women’s Day we will be furthering the discussion together with the public. Moderators Ciska Hoet and Bieke Purnelle of RoSa vzw and Director of the Middelheim Museum Sara Weyns will present their personal conclusions and interpretations of the past discussions.

In a discussion with Anne Bielig, the artist Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven will present the limited-edition T-shirt she designed for this series – available to purchase during this closing event for a price of 49 euro!

Antwerp City Poet Maud Vanhauwaert will read a poetic contribution that took shape during ‘Imagining Monuments’.

The trans-universal group ooooo, hosted by performer and cyberfeminist Marthe Van Dessel, will broadcast a live stream of Radio Centraal from our Extra Fika Café. In the context of their yearly ‘women’s week’, the Thursday evening programmes ‘het amusementsbedrijf’, ‘webgang’, ‘Beatscapes’ and ‘Wave frequencies’ will be broadcasting live interviews and clips of this closing event.

Belgian Champion Poetry Slam Lisette Ma Neza will process her impressions of the evening in a slam. In her poetry, she searches for her own identity, finds stories of others, loses herself in the audience and forms her own truth.

The artistic presentations of Katinka De Jonge, Stef Van Looveren and Mashid Mohadjerin are currently on display in Kunsthal Extra City’s exhibition space.
