Rabih Mroué is a leading voice in Lebanon's artistic diaspora. In his highly acclaimed work, he deals with the controversial memory of the Lebanese civil war, the Arab Spring and the Syrian revolution. Comprising theatre, art and literature, his work moves at the interface of fictitious personal and political stories, media criticism and concepts of authorship: in the form of conversations, confessions, surveys and reports, Mroué constantly questions perspectives and speech acts. This anthology uses 20 interviews to shed light on Mroué's work over the past 20 years and is published on the occasion of his being awarded the Schering Stiftung Prize for Artistic Research 2020. Additionally, a suite of new conversations and an introductory essay by the editor Nadim Samman, draft a portrait of the artist in his own words.
