Polished Persistance

Yoel Pytowski

€ 40.00

On the occasion of his solo exhibition The Porous Lodge at Kunsthal Extra City, Yoel Pytowski has created a limited edition of fifty brooches made from steel screws titled ‘Polished Persistance’.

Each screw is manually polished through a time-consuming process to reveal its core, transforming these ordinary objects into unique pieces. These seemingly generic screws carry a unique history. Every screw used for this edition was originally part of Pytowski’s previous installations. They have been reused multiple times, as after each exhibition, the artist dismantles his works and stores all construction materials in his studio until they are used for his next site-specific installation. Recycling and reusing materials in a thoughtful, sustainable way has been integral to Pytowski’s artistic practice since 2014.

Pytowski openly acknowledges that most of the income from selling these brooches will be used for purchasing new materials and paying those who help construct his large-scale works, underscoring the financial and logistical challenges of sustaining ambitious artistic production.
