On Friday 3 July, Kunsthal Extra City, Lichtekooi and Out of Sight come together for a conversation hosted by Out of Sight. Drawing on their respective practices, they will exchange experiences, questions and perspectives on collaboration, exchange and the role of artistic initiatives within the visual arts field.
The visual arts field is made up of a broad mix of artists, organisations, collectives and institutions. This diversity is one of its greatest strengths, but it also comes with challenges. How can different actors strengthen one another? How can we build bridges between organisations, initiatives and artists? And what forms of collaboration are possible today?
The conversation starts from the experiences of Kunsthal Extra City, Lichtekooi and Out of Sight, creating space for reflection, exchange and encounter. Rather than seeking a single answer, it aims to bring different perspectives into dialogue with one another.
This conversation is part of a broader series of gatherings taking place across Flanders that reflect on the future of the visual arts field. The initiative is supported by the Kunsthallenoverleg (Kunsthal Gent, Kunsthal Mechelen, Kunsthal Extra City, Argos and Netwerk Aalst) in collaboration with Kunstenpunt and FARO. Together, these conversations contribute to a broader trajectory that will culminate in a General Assembly of the Visual Arts.
An overview of all conversations can be found on the website of Kunstenpunt.
