Organised by het Kiek in partnership with MORPHO and Kunsthal Extra City
Someone asked in passing, “Has anyone gone to check on the chickens yet?”
At the invitation of MORPHO and Kunsthal Extra City, Het Kiek settles into the refectory of the former Dominican monastery on Ploegstraat.
Het Kiek gathers its artists, past and present, around an installation that behaves like a kind of spatial organism. The works move around it, whisper to it, collide with it, nestle against it, or eye it suspiciously—just as chickens do.
During the Borger Nocturne, a performance disrupts the calm of the coop, shifting the boundaries between looking and being looked at.
The ensemble consists of Robin Adriaens, Brend Van Dijck, Alice Kok, Roel Segers, Marius Schoonvliet, Nina Schuurmans, Miguel Toro, Tibo Vergote, Ian De Weerdt, and Fanny Wellens.
