Extra Academy is a spontaneous alliance of Extra City, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Sint-Lucas Antwerpen.

The guest speaker of 20 April is Hermann Pitz.

Extra Academy #8 includes the presentation of the book 'Art Worlds' by Howard S. Becker.

"Art Worlds" focuses on the process of decision making in the art world. Howard S. Becker invented in this context the term of 'the art world official'. That is any person functioning in the art world taking a responsibility in the decision process. Becker states that there is not one art world but there are many art worlds (partially linked to each other). According to him all art practice is bound in this one system.
