Break the Silence, the closing weekend of Silent Times, brings sound and words to the forefront, with artists making their voices resonate through the space.
March 28
19:00 Hoda Siahtiri and Azertyklavierwerke present Scream Manifesto, a 'sonic indictment' against war, destruction, and the killing of humans and non-human beings. With this ritual performance, they explore alternative forms of resilience and resistance.
20:00 Opening of the exhibition we dreamt of utopia and we woke up screaming (all after... all before...), a compelling performative installation by performance artist, author, researcher and dramaturg Yasmina Reggad. The installation transforms the exhibition space into a radio station and turns an archive of revolutionary voices into a living sonic space, amplifying past and present struggles to inspire resistance, solidarity, and alternative futures.

19:00 Former MORPHO-resident Paloma Bouhana and Philippine Hoegen present Save Your Breath. The two performers take turns reading aloud the financial transactions of an artist and an art institution, while a ceramic bell, modeled after the New York Stock Exchange bell, rings with each incoming payment. Within the acoustics of a former church, money becomes audible and almost tangible, a rhythmic play of value and exchange.
20:00 The Antwerp Queer Choir presents RAGE/RAVE, an interactive music theater performance that explores the powerful role of voice and music in queer protest and expression. This mix of resistance and celebration draws energy from the queer nightlife.
Break the Silence is part of the Closing Sessions organized by Kunsthal Extra City and MORPHO. These collaborative rituals celebrate the end of an exhibition and/or an artist residency at our shared locations in the monastery.
