Using the format of the famous Dutch television programme Zomergasten, Luc Deleu will go into conversation with Chantal Pattyn on images and sounds, objects and artefacts which have been crucial for the development of his oeuvre.

A Never Ending Story

Demeulenaere’s installation unfolds as it accompanies the different episodes of the Orban Space discursive program, as an accumulation of objects that can be understood as props, elements of furniture or sculptures. Each of these objects departs from the same hexagonal module, responding via scalar or formal variations to the needs of each event held at Extra City, to the different modes of ‘display’ these presuppose. The logistical and affective distinctions between a lecture, a public conversation or a performance are marked in the growing sum of objects – an accumulation that corresponds to an increasing ambiguity between their serviceable nature and their status as works of art. The expansion of the installation, the shifts in size, material, treatment and position applied to the same module maintain a tension between functions and perceptions, the position of performer and spectator, holder and that which is held.

Chantal Pattyn (BE) manages the Belgian radio station Klara. Previously she worked as a talkshow host on Studio Brussel and she presented the television program De Zevende dag on Eén. Starting in September 2013, she will present during four nights a week the art programme Pompidou on Klara.
