Join us for an engaging evening centered around Silent Times, featuring artist Adam Broomberg, whose series Anchor in the Landscape is partially exhibited. Broomberg is an artist, activist, educator, and founder of Artists + Allies × Hebron (AAH). His work has been showcased worldwide, including at the Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou in Paris, documenta 2017 in Kassel, and Tate Modern in London.
For this special occasion, we’ve invited Ahmed Alaqra to join the conversation. Alaqra is an artist, curator, and researcher exploring the aesthetics of power in societal and political structures. He is a curator at The Palestinian Museum, curates exhibitions across Europe and the Arab world, and co-founded FANA’ Collective and EL-GORFEH. His writings have appeared in The Funambulist and Jerusalem Quarterly, and he is the author of I Died a Thousand Times.
The evening will be moderated by cultural journalist and former VRT correspondent in Jerusalem, Nicky Aerts.
The talk starts punctually at 8:00 PM but you are cordially invited to visit the exhibition beforehand and we will be happy to welcome you for a drink in our café from 7:00 PM onwards.
Speaking with Silence is a collaboration between Kunsthal Extra City and Trigger (FOMU), which will release its new annual publication in October: Trigger #6: Assembly. Guest edited by Taous Dahmani, this issue explores the power of collective action, resistance, and the reinterpretation of history, with a particular focus on the SWANA region.
